This advice from Brute Strength is spot on. CrossFitters often suffer from a tendency to chase intensity over form. Whether that comes in the form of overloading the bar with too much weight or performing reps too fast, they let inefficiencies creep into their training.
And remember, this is training – not competition. Training is not about winning, it is about improving. So what’s the rush? No point finishing quickly if it’s going to be sloppy. In training there is a pay off to slowing down and mastering the mechanics of each movement.
Not only does it keep you safer, in the long run better mechanics allow you to move more load faster with less expended energy.
Movement mechanics should always take precedence over speed or load. Don’t fall into the speed trap!
