Saturday at CrossFit Empower we hosted CrossFit Open WOD 19.1. Here’s how it went down:
Despite weak early registration, Saturday’s turn out was great with lots of last minute athlete registrations and many non-competitors coming out to join us for the WOD. HHH & Motor started it off with a grudge match challenge. Both put in great performances with HHH coming out on top.
In fact, Empower competitors in every heat really pushed themselves and put up impressive scores throughout. All our competitors this weekend should congratulate themselves on a great first workout. Now log your scores on the CrossFit Games leaderboard so you don’t get disqualified and don’t check your ranking until the 5 weeks of competition has ended. Seriously, just don’t!
After all the scheduled heats had completed we had an organizers heat with HeeHee and a featured grudge match between coaches. MK did the honours announcing “Junkyard” WOD Father versus The “Newton Boy” Touch. Words were exchanged at the stare down, things got heated and judges The Heat & E.T. had to separate the two challengers.
In the end, The Newton Boy took the win and Junkyard WOD Father joined Motor for the loser’s lap of shame around Jericho Village.
It was a fun event and a great start to the competition season. Thanks to all the judges and helpers who helped reset rowers, cheer on athletes, run the BBQ, set up, clean up, etc. Thanks for all the tasty potluck offerings that kept our participants fueled.
If you missed it this weekend we hope you will come and join us for the next one!
